What Are Employee Rights?

The two words, employee rights, are becoming more important as corporate interests increase on issues such as worker’s compensation, discrimination against employees, and the rights to join a union. These rights may include the right to form and join unions, the right to be paid at the right level, the right to be paid for work performed, and to be protected from employment or labour practices that violate their rights. These rights may also include workers’ compensation, which is designed to help workers who are injured or fall ill in the workplace.

What are employee rights when it comes to religious discrimination? Religious discrimination can occur in the workplace, in schools, in the housing market, in the media, and in many other areas. Civil rights laws protect individuals from actions based on race, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, or disability. Civil rights laws may also protect your right to join a union, or your right to be paid a certain amount for the work that you have done. If you believe that you have been a victim of religious discrimination, or sexual harassment, or any other type of discrimination, your employer may be legally obligated to accommodate your religious beliefs or non-discrimination, or at least have a neutral policy prohibiting such actions.
