Concrete Hand Planters
These are quick and easy to make, and will certainly save you some money on garden planters and ornaments. Get some strong plastic gloves and fill them up with concrete, once you have done that, you will need to make sure you make the correct hand shape that will act as a planter; this can be done by placing the hands in a box or a bowl to make sure the cement dries in that position, and then you will need to place a bowl inside the hands to give it that ‘holding’ shape. Once it has dried, you will need to cut and peel the plastic gloves away, and voila! you have your own hand planters. You can even paint them to add decoration. If you want them for your home, you could even use them as a tealight holder, or a trinket dish.
Make Concrete Jewellery
This is a very simple make, but it also looks gorgeous; there are many different types of jewellery you can make such as bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. To make a jewellery charm, all you need is an ice cube tray that has pretty shapes, and jewellery findings (ball headpin, or a flat head pin) that will be placed at the top of the charm (ice cube tray) and bent to make sure it fits in the ice cube mould. Then you need to pour in the cement mixture carefully whilst keeping the jewellery pin secure, and you will then need to wait for it to dry. Once it has dried, you can then take it out, and this will make a gorgeous concrete jewellery charm – you can also paint it to add some decoration. If you don’t want to make this into a jewellery charm, you could turn it into a magnet or a brooch.
This is a very simple and effective way to create your own vases, and it also involves recycling old plastic bottles. To make a concrete vase, you will need to grab a bigger plastic bottle and make sure to cut the top off halfway, remove all packaging and make sure it’s clean. Next, you will need to prepare the smaller plastic bottle that will create the hollow shape of the vase; take off all the wrapping, and again, ensure that it is clean. Once you have done that, you are ready to pour in the concrete mixture; make sure not to fill it up too much as it could overflow when you place the smaller bottle inside. When you have added the concrete, you will then need to place the smaller plastic bottle inside – don’t forget to keep it straight. When the concrete has dried you can take out the smaller plastic bottle, and when you have done that, you can cut around the big plastic bottle to take the concrete shape out. You can decorate this with paint to make it look pretty in your garden.
