6 Signs You’re Wearing the Wrong Bra Size

Okay ladies, let’s just be real here for a second. Whilst we all appreciate the wonder worker that is our bra, you can’t deny the fact that they aren’t the most comfortable contraptions ever invented. There is nothing quite like the feeling of unclasping your bra at the end of the day and flinging it across the room in triumph – we’ve all been there. However, believe it or not, bras are not supposed to feel this way.

They shouldn’t ride up your back or feel as though you have a tight elastic band strapped around your chest. Instead, they should offer the right amount of support, allowing you to go about your day without feeling any kind of discomfort. The most common reason many women find their bras uncomfortable is because it is not the right size for them. Either they are wearing the wrong band or cup size. Here are some tell-tale signs that you are wearing the wrong bra size:

Your straps fall down

If you find yourself adjusting your bra straps throughout the day because they keep slipping down, your bra isn’t doing its job very well. The straps should be adjusted and if they still fall down, you probably need to go down a band size.

Your band rides up your back

According to Cosmopolitan Magazine, your straps provide 20% of the support but the band provides 80% of the bra’s support. If the band size is too big, it will ride up your back. It must be tight enough to stay in place, but not so tight as to compress your chest too much. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably underneath the band.

The centre of the bra sticks out

When you look down, the middle part of the bra, otherwise known as the “gore” needs to be lying flat against your sternum.

Wrong Cup Size

You will know that the cup size is too big when the material is wrinkly or saggy. On the other hand, the cup size is too small when you notice you have some spill over. You should try going up a cup size for a better fit.

Your bra was too cheap

Whilst it can be great to find a bargain on the high street, cheap bras usually don’t perform as well as a higher quality bra. You should invest in a better quality bra such as the Prima Donna Deauville Bra which lifts the bust and will give you the shape you have always wanted. Choose a comfortable and well-fitted bra such as the Prima Donna Deauville Bra ranges.

You have back pain

If the straps are digging into your shoulders, you are wearing the wrong bra size. The same goes for the neck and back. If you are experiencing pain in these areas, Seventeen suggests getting yourself measures by a lingerie specialist.
